Book Review

I have often thought about being a teacher. I have always thought, man teachers have it easy. I mean all they have to do is teach something they knew like the back of there hand. Boy was I wrong about them. Teaching is a lot more difficult then that. It requires a lot of time and effort to be a good teacher. They have to make lesson plans. Learning everyone in the classes name and how they act sounds really hard too. I really have a lot of respect for teachers after reading this book. The book element of teaching really explains the difficulties of teaching. I mean how do you teach a kid multiplication? We take teachers for granted. This book really opened up my eyes and mind. I will use these skills when I teach.




The element of teaching is a great mix of stories and facts. In this book by James M. Banner, Harold C. Cannon it examines as well as teaches the different elements of teaching. The difficulty level is for a higher level audience. This book gives a 12 step outline on how to make yourself into a successful teacher. This book shows through word how much of an art teaching is. Teachers are simple and there strategies are amazing. This book shows teaching in a whole new light. By the end u will understand why teaches do what they do. It gives many tips and plans on how as a teacher to train your students and yourself on how to perform at the best of your ability. Successful teachers have qualities bad teachers don't have. They know how to promote a good learning environment. Good teachers often times have a fun environment where kids thrive. When there is a fun environment kids are more likely to pay attention and understand stuff because they are willing to learn. That is just one quality that makes a good teacher. As a teacher, you can always get better. Learning to grow with your students is a key part to every teacher’s success.



Another way to be a good teacher is to learn how to think like a kid. If you can learn how to make school exciting and teach at the same time you have done a good job. This skill takes a long time to learn and master. Very few teachers know how to do this first day on the job. This book gives you a head start and helps you plan ways to get there faster then every before. I know I plan on using a lot of the skills in this book to make myself the best teacher I can be.



Chapters are short, but informative. They get you a lot of information in a few pages at a time. The way this book is written is brilliant and elegant. It flowed along well and I learned a lot about teachers and why they do what they do. It is a master piece. This book is perfect for people who wonder about teachers. Teachers make mistakes and are human like everyone else. Element of teaching really shows the real colors of what it takes to be a teacher. Overall this book is a must read for someone interested in a teaching career of some kind. I have often thought of being a teacher and I plan to put this book to go use. I now have strategies to become a great teacher in the future. This book deserves 5 out of 5 stars from me. I plan to use this book through the rest of my life as I pursue a career in teaching children.
